I’ve been in a nostalgic Doctor Who mood recently so I spent last weekend rewatching the two movie adaptions of the long-running BBC science fiction series: Dr. Who and the Daleks, from 1965, and Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 A.D, from 1966. The Black Hole by Jack Kirby

Here at ‘Tain’t the Meat… It’s the Humanity!, our mission statement has always been to uncover lost or forgotten pop culture curiosities from the worlds of comics and film. This week we’ve unearthed a little gem from the late 1970s that scratches both of those itches at once — a newspaper comic strip adaptation of Disney’s The Black Hole, drawn by legendary comic book artist Jack (King!) Kirby.

Universal Studios Monsters: The Invisible Man action figure by Sideshow Toy (2000)

Over the last few weeks I’ve been taking a closer look at some of my favourite action figures, namely the Universal Studios Monsters collection released by Sideshow Toy between 1999 and 2001. The series featured 15 figures that paid homage to many of Universal’s iconic movie monsters — FrankensteinThe Wolf Man and The Mummy, to name  few — as well as the actors who portrayed them. This week it’s the turn of Claude Rains’ memorable performance as The Invisible Man, from the Universal film released in 1933. Universal Studios Monsters: The Phantom of The Opera action figure by Sideshow Toy (1999)

Universal Studios Monsters was a collection of posable action figures released by Sideshow Toy between 1999 and 2001. The 15 figures in the collection featured realistic interpretations of some of Universal’s most iconic movie monsters, and the actors who portrayed them. Over the last few weeks I’ve been taking a closer look at the collection, and this week it’s the turn of Lon Chaney’s classic interpretation of The Phantom of the Opera, based on the film released by Universal in 1925. Universal Studios Monsters: Son of Frankenstein action figure by Sideshow Toy (2000)

Universal Studios Monsters was a collection of 15 posable action figures released by Sideshow Toy between 1999 and 2001. The figures in the collection featured some of Universal Studios’ most iconic movie monsters from the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s. This week it’s the turn of Boris Karloff‘s creature from Son of Frankenstein, released by Universal in 1939. Universal Studios Monsters: Werewolf of London action figure by Sideshow Toy (2000)

Over the last few weeks I’ve been taking a closer look at some of my favourite action figures, namely those from Sideshow Toy’s Universal Studios Monsters collection released between 1999 and 2001. This week it’s the turn of Henry Hull’s portrayal of Universal’s first cinematic wolf-man — Werewolf of London — released in 1935.
